The word A.B.A.T.E. is an acronym which stands for,
American Bikers Aiming Towards Education.
MISSION STATEMENT
A.B.A.T.E. is a "State Motorcycle Rights Organization" or SMRO.
A.B.A.T.E. of Utah is a organization to keep motorcyclists informed of upcoming and pending legislation pertaining to motorcycles and motorcyclist's rights.
Keep motorcyclists up to date on related stories, news and motorcycle related activities (i.e scheduled rides, swap meets, bike shows, meetings, ect.) in Utah and around the country.
Nationwide, motorcyclists are under attack from state and federal goverment, insurance companies and a population with preconceived ideas about motorcyclists.
Motivate and teach motorcyclists to communicate with their legislators and get involved in the legislative process.
We encourage all members to become active registered voters and promote a better public awareness of motorcyclists.
As an organization we serve as a central source of information for Utah's motorcyclists.
A.B.A.T.E. is a not for profit organization dedicated to freedom of the road for all motorcyclists from all walks of life.
We are seeking to join together Utah's motorcycling community in an effort to work towards realistic legislation to insure safety and freedom of our public roads, providing motorcycle awareness and safety programs to the general public and promote the enjoyment of motorcycling in general.
A.B.A.T.E. of Utah is for ALL persons interested in motorcycling , whether you ride or not.
It is important that you know that we are Pro-choice organization, If you choose to wear a helmet or not, it is your choice, and we will defend that right.
All of A.B.A.T.E.'s ideas and goals are realized through the participation of our members, we are truly a "Grassroots" organization.
A.B.A.T.E. of Utah has been divided into local chapters which have been organized by motorcyclists, just like you, to promote a positive image through local civic, charitable and benevolent causes; having fun sponsoring local rides and activities; pooling resources for the common benefit of members and promoting political awareness,
A.B.A.T.E. is in Utah's capital to monitor and inform you about legislation that will affect your chosen sport of motorcycling. In addition, through our nationwide affiliations with other motorcycle rights groups we keep you informed of pending legislation not only in other States, but in Washington D.C. as well.
There are no mandatory obligations involved with this organization. You do not have to "prospect" to become a member.
Let's face it the people who are making the laws know little or nothing about motorcycles, only by working together can we prevent legislation which will adversely affect our chosen sport. Instead, through A.B.A.T.E. we can work to present a positive image of motorcycling and encourage it's continued growth.
